DENVER - Metropolitan State University of Denver snapped a four-match losing streak with a 25-20, 25-20, 25-16 sweep over Westminster (Utah) on Saturday afternoon at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improved to 3-7 overall and 1-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, while WC fell to 3-7 and 0-2.
It was the first-ever meeting between the two schools and the second conference match for Westminster since joining the RMAC over the summer.

Michaela Smith (Littleton, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) hit .400 and had 13 kills to lead the Roadrunners, who hit a season-high .312 in the match.
Brandi Torr (Albuquerque, N.M./La Cueva H.S.) helped the strong offense by dishing out 43 set assists.
Vasati Fiatoa (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) connected for nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) put down seven kills and
Alyssa Svalberg (Aurora, Colo./Grandview H.S.) and
Stephanie Laraway (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood H.S.) each had six.

Kylie Haun (Simpsonville, S.C./Hillcrest H.S.) was steady on defense with 15 digs and no receiving errors in seven attempts.

MSU Denver hit .407 in the first set behind five kills from
Summer Greager (Colorado Springs, Colo./Colorado Springs Christian H.S.).

In the second set, it was the defense that held the Griffins to a .130 hitting percentage. They pulled away from a 16-16 tie with nine of the final 13 points.
