Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team (4-2) defeated Bloomfield on Saturday, November 26 in the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Cherry Creek Classic.

MSU Denver struggled from the field in the first half but was able to keep the game close, going into the locker room down 34-31. The Roadrunners shot 33% from the field but held the Bears to 39% shooting. MSU Denver went 6-of-9 from the free throw line in the half. Junior
Cameron Williams (Omaha, Neb./South High School ) led with nine points and senior
Brian Howard (Maywood, Ill./Saint Ignatius H.S.) tallied eight points in the half.

MSU Denver opened the second half with a 13- 4 run to take a six-point lead. The Bears battled back to narrow the Roadrunner lead to 48-47 with nine minutes to play.

The Roadrunners took advantage from turnovers to widen their lead late in the second half. With six minutes remaining they led 21-12 in points off turnovers.

MSU Denver sealed the victory in the final minutes, holding off the Bears comeback attempt. The Roadrunners concluded their non-conference play with a 79-73 win over Bloomfield.

Enrique Cortes Zotes finished the game leading the Roadrunners with 20 points (7-12 from the field) and added in seven boards. Howard concluded his night with 17 points, five rebounds and two steals.

MSU Denver will open up Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play against South Dakota School of Mines on Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center.
