East Orange, Calif.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team defeated Texas A&M International 71-60 in the 2016-17 season opener.
The Roadrunners got off to a strong start against the Dust Devils, ending the first half with a 23-29 lead. The team kept the momentum going in the second half, leading by as many as 15 points.
The Roadrunners scoring was spread with five players scoring in double figures. Sophomore Enrique Cores Zotes led both teams with 15 points and added four rebounds. Junior
Cameron Williams (Omaha, Neb./South High School ) scored 14 points along with freshman Alec Williams. Senior
Brian Howard (Maywood, Ill./Saint Ignatius H.S.) scored 14 for the Roadrunners while providing five rebounds. Senior
Andre Harris (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb H.S.) rounded out the scoring, providing 10 points and adding a game high six rebounds.
The Roadrunners take on No. 23 Arkansas Fort Smith tomorrow, Saturday, November 5 at 7:15 MT.
