Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver Women's basketball team defeated Manhattan Christian College 85-54 in its second exhibition game of the weekend.
The Roadrunners came out of the gate strong going on a 17-3 run to start the first quarter. MSU Denver outscored the Thunder 28-12 in the first quarter. However, the Thunder made a comeback in the second quarter, shooting 57 percent from the three and outscoring the Roadrunners 18-17 in the quarter. Going into half, MSU Denver led the score 45-30. Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) led all scorers with 13 points at half.
The Roadrunners led the last two quarters out shooting the the Thunder 10-17 in the third quarter and 23- 14 in the fourth quarter, earning the 85-54 win. MSU Denver shot 49 percent from the field and 40 percent from the three. Ohrdorf finished the night earning a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds and shooting 11-13 from the field. Junior J'nae Squires-Horton added 23 points for the Roadrunners.
The Roadrunners will host No. 11 Lubbock Christian next Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center.
