Denver – The Metropolitan State University of Denver baseball team fell 6-2 to MSU-Billings on Friday afternoon. The Roadrunners fall to 1-3 and the Yellowjackets improve to 3-3.
The Roadrunners were led offensively by senior
Reilly Mau (Longmont, Colo./Longmont H.S.). Mau went 2-for-4 from behind the plate and scored a run in the game.
MSU Denver was trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first before sophomore
Hunter Donaldson (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) singled to score senior
Jeff Levett (Parker, Colo./Chaparral H.S.) tying the game at 1-1.
The Roadrunners gave up one run in the second inning and three in the fourth inning. MSU Denver would attempt to rally when sophomore
Trent Maloney (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County H.S.) hit a double in the gap scoring Mau. Maloney was thrown out on the play attempting to stretch the hit into a triple.
Sophomore
Julian Garcia (Fort Collins, Colo./Fossil Ridge H.S.) took the loss on the mound for the Roadrunners. Garcia gave up six runs, four earned, on six hits. Senior
Cameron Stroup (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West H.S.) allowed only one hit in four innings of relief striking out six.
MSU Denver will face MSU-Billings on Saturday. The Roadrunners will play two seven-inning games beginning at 12 noon at The Regency Athletic Complex.
