The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver Recognized by the Downtown Denver Partnership, Inc.

MSU Denver continues to transform lives within the Denver community

Denver – Metropolitan State University of Denver received recognition on Thursday, April 7 from the Downtown Denver Partnership, Inc. at the 55th Annual Downtown Denver Awards Dinner for the construction of The Regency Athletic Complex at MSU Denver.

At the dinner, a record of more than 1,000 business and civic leaders joined the Downtown Denver Partnership to help celebrate projects that have had the most significant impact on the center city in 2015.

"This award is a testament to the vision and work that went into bringing this project together," said President Stephen M. Jordan. "With support from partners in the public sector, we were able to turn a blighted plot of land into an urban oasis, restoring a pocket of the city and enhancing the health, wellness and spirit of the community."

The 13-acre complex is located on the south side of Colfax, across from MSU Denver's main campus.  The site includes baseball and softball diamonds, a soccer field, eight tennis courts, a 23,000 square-foot locker room and training area plus a multi-purpose fitness trail.  The Regency Athletic Complex will be the site of the 2016 NCAA Division II Spring Sports Festival on May 16-21 where national champions will be crown in men's tennis, women's tennis, softball, and women's lacrosse.

The Regency Athletic Complex was one of six recipients of awards on Thursday night.  Others included: 16M, Balfour at Riverfront Park, Co-Development Expansion Project at the Denver Art Museum and the Art Hotel, Elan Union Station and King Soopers, and Lawrence Street Community Center.
