Men’s Soccer: MSU Denver Earn First Road Win against Western Washington

D’Angelo Escobar scores game winning goal in 49th minute

Bellingham- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's soccer team earned its first road win of the season Thursday September 8th against the Western Washington Vikings. The match proved to be a physical battle with 35 combined fouls and 8 yellow cards being issued.

Senior Josh Belfrage (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista H.S.) scored just 10 minutes into the first half from four yards out off a cross from freshman Demitri Ney. The Vikings answered back tying the game with 14 minutes to go in the first half when senior Eleazar Galvan scored on a one touch finish. Shortly after the start of the second half D'Angelo Escobar (Firestone, Colo./Thornton High School ) scored what turned out to be the match-winning goal for the Roadrunners. Escobar blasted in a half volley from the top of the 18-yard box after the Vikings failed to clear the ball.
