Pueblo, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team was defeated by CSU-Pueblo on Friday night by a score of 89-70. The Roadrunners fall to 10-6 overall and 6-4 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
The Roadrunners were led in scoring by
Allec Williams (Albany, Ga./Westover High School ) with 14 points.
Sunday Dech (Perth, Australia/Churchlands H.S.) added 12 points while
Andre Harris (DeKalb, Ill./DeKalb H.S.) chipped in with 10 points. Dech also led the team in rebounding with nine.
The game was tight in the early going with the score being tied 11-11 following a Williams layup just over five minutes into the game. With five minutes remaining in the half, MSU Denver trailed by five points, 32-27. CSU-Pueblo went on a 12-2 run to close the half and the Roadrunners went into the locker room down 44-29.
The second half saw CSU-Pueblo continue to expand upon its lead. The Thuderwolves had a hot shooting night from the field going 60.0 percent from the field in the game and 58.8 percent from three-point range.
MSU Denver will continue its road trip on Saturday, January 14 when the team travels to Las Vegas, N.M. to take on N.M. Highlands at 7 p.m.
