Grand Junction, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team (5-5-0, 4-2-0 RMAC) fell 2-0 at Colorado Mesa (6-4-0, 3-2-0 RMAC) to wrap up its road trip weekend.
The Mavericks got off to a strong start putting offensive pressure on the Roadrunners from the kick off. The Mavs broke MSU Denver's defense in the 11
th minute taking an early 1-0 lead.
The rest of the half seemed to be even between the two sides with each team firing shots at one another. However, neither side would put another on the board in the half, making the score 1-0 in favor of CMU heading into the locker rooms.
The start of the second half was similar to much of the first with the game staying fairly even. But the Mavs were able to score the dagger in the 73
rd minute when a Maverick forward received a through ball from midfield to find the back of the net.
The Roadrunners were unable to complete a comeback, with the Mavericks taking the win 2-0.
The Roadrunners finished the game with five shots on goal while the Mavs finished with six.
MSU Denver will return home to take on New Mexico Highlands on Friday, October 6 a 5 p.m.
