Pueblo, Colo.- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's soccer team fell 1-0 in the Rocky Mountain quarter final to CSU-Pueblo on Tuesday, October 31.
There was not a ton of action to start the quarterfinal game between the Roadrunners and the Thunderwolves until just over 25 minutes into the first half of the game. Mackenzie Bean who was announced RMAC player of the year was able to score for CSU-Pueblo off a rebounded shot from her teammate, putting the Thunderwolves up 1-0.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Thunderwolves throughout the rest of the half.
The Roadrunners started off the second half strong, immediately putting pressure on the Thunderwolves defense. MSU Denver posted four shots in the first 15 minutes of the half and held CSU-Pueblo to no shots during that time.
The Roadrunners conituned to fight for the equalizer putting four more shots on goal in the half, but was unable to find the back of the net.
The early goal would prove to be enough for the Thunderwolves earing the 1-0 win. The Roadrunners closed the season going 8-9-0 overall and 7-5-0 in conference play.
