The MSU Denver Department of Athletics has released its 2017-2020 Strategic Plan entitled "Building Our Legacy: Continuous Pursuit of Excellence."
"The strategic plan will outline the direction for the Department of Athletics and serve as a guide for our decision-making," said Director of Athletics,
Dr. Anthony Grant. "I want to thank all of those who participated in the process. The goals and objectives developed by all of the committees are founded in our core values as an institution and will position our athletics programs for sustained success in the years to come."
The process began over a year ago and included campus staff, faculty, student-athletes, donors, and community members. The steering committee developed seven themes that were then examined by sub-committees. In all, the team developed 33 goals and 98 objectives.
The seven themes are:

- Student-Athlete Welfare
- Student Success
• Competitive Excellence
• Rules Compliance
• Fiscal Responsibility/Maximizing Fundraising and Revenue Generation Opportunities
• Community Engagement
• Telling the Roadrunner Story
• Culture of Inclusion
