Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team defeated (4-2) William Jewell (2-4) 59-35 to complete a weekend sweep at home.

Jonalyn Wittwer (Fall Creek, Wis./Fall Creek H.S.) opened up the game for the Roadrunners firing a shot from downtown to get the game going. William Jewell answered on their next possession hitting a three to tie the game up.
The Cardinals scored the next four points to take the lead, but the Roadrunners would then go on a 13-0 run, heading into the second quarter with a seven-point advantage.
MSU Denver held William Jewell to just three points in the first five minutes of the second quarter to extend its lead to 11. However, the Cardinals gained some momentum to go on a seven point run coming within four with just under two minutes remaining in the first half.
Junior
Emily Hartegan (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) ended the half on a high note for her team converting a three-point play to put the Roadrunners up 30-21 at half.
Hartegan and senior J'Nae Squires Horton led the Roadrunners at half with seven points a piece.
The Cardinals started the third with the upper-hand, making several stops on the defensive end and cutting the Roadrunners lead to four with five minutes left in the third.
The Roadrunners kicked it into gear as they outscored the Cardinals 12-4 to end the quarter. MSU Denver shot 44 percent from the field and held the Cardinals to 33 percent in the third.
The fourth quarter belonged to the Roadrunners with the team breaking away from the Cardinals. MSU Denver held William Jewell scoreless until just two minutes left on the clock and scoring the first 10 points of the quarter to lead by 22.
The Roadrunners would only allow one more point to only allow two total Cardinal points with no field goals in the last quarter of the game. MSU Denver took the win 59-35.
Squires-Horton led the Roadrunners with 11 points. Ohrdorf finished the game with 10 points in just 15 minutes of play. Smith finished the night leading the game with 12 rebounds while adding seven points and five assists.
The Roadrunners will travel to South Dakota to take on Black Hills State and South Dakota Mines in next weekends matchups.
