Denver – The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team defeated Western State 3-0 on Friday night at the Auraria Event Center to improve to 17-7 overall and 14-2 in the RMAC.
 
The Roadrunners were led by junior 
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) with 12 kills.  Junior 
Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View High School) tallied 11 kills and senior 
Vasati Fiatoa (Las Vegas, Nev./Bonanza H.S.) recorded 10 kills.  Sturges also recorded 12 digs on the night.
 
The first set was a battle.  MSU Denver managed to come away with the win 27-25.  The Roadrunners hit 63 percent in the set.  The score was tied nine times, but the Roadrunners found a way to win.
 
MSU Denver was able to put the Western State away in the second and third sets.  The Roadrunners won the second set 25-14 and the third set 25-21.
 
The Roadrunners will host Senior Day on Saturday, November 4 in their final regular season home match.  MSU Denver will face Colorado Mesa at 5 p.m.
