Box Score Golden, Colo. – The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team defeated Colorado Mines 74-61 on Saturday afternoon to improve to 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

J'Nae Squires-Horton (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sand Creek H.S.) led all players in scoring with a game-high 18 points. Junior
Emily Hartegan (Wylie, Texas/Wylie East H.S.) added 16 points and senior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) put in 15 points. Junior
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) chipped in with 10 points. Ohrdorf added 13 rebounds to her stat line to earn a double-double. Senior
Mikala Gordon (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo H.S.) grabbed 11 rebounds in the game.
The Roadrunners and the Orediggers battled back-and-forth in the first quarter. Hartegan and Smith each had four points in the opening frame and the Roadrunners took a 15-12 lead into the second quarter.
The second quarter was more of the same for MSU Denver. The Roadrunners outscored Colorado Mines 16-13 in the second quarter and took a 31-25 lead into halftime.
Colorado Mines would have an offensive explosion in the final minutes of the third quarter. Following a three-pointer made by junior
Jonalyn Wittwer (Fall Creek, Wis./Fall Creek H.S.) to give MSU Denver a 49-38 lead with 3:22 to go in the quarter, the Orediggers would hold the Roadrunners scoreless and go on a 7-0 run. MSU Denver still held a slim lead, 49-46 entering the fourth quarter.
MSU Denver would dominate the final quarter outscoring Colorado Mines 25-15. Hartegan, Ohrdorf, Squires-Horton, and Smith would combine for 24 points in the quarter. MSU Denver outrebounded Colorado Mines 56-34 in the game.
The Roadrunners will face Colorado Christian on Sunday, December 17 at 1 p.m. in Lakewood, Colo.
