Box Score Denver – The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team defeated Fort Lewis 3-0 on Saturday night to advance to 6-6 overall and 3-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Roadrunners were led by junior
Stephanie Laraway (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood H.S.). Laraway posted 16 kills in the match and had a hitting percentage of .682. Junior
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit H.S.) also tallied double-digit kills in the match with 14.

In the first set, the Skyhawks built an early 6-4 lead before the Roadrunners exploded with five straight points to take a 9-6 advantage. MSU Denver would not look back in the match. The Skyhawks would cut the lead to one, however, the Roadrunners fended them off to take the set 25-23.

The second set was almost a repeat of the first with the Skyhawks and Roadrunners tied at 6-6 in the early goings. MSU Denver once again rattled off four points to take a 10-6 lead. Sturges closed out the set with a kill to propel the Roadrunners to a 25-18 win and a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Roadrunners were in complete control of the third set. After exchanging points to a 3-3 tie, MSU Denver once again took control. MSU Denver closed the set on a 10-4 run and completed the sweep 3-0.

MSU Denver will travel to Las Vegas, N.M. on Friday, September 29 to take on N.M. Highlands at 7 p.m.
