Denver- The Metropolitan State University of Denver men's basketball team earned a big 80-60 home win against Colorado Mesa on Friday night. The Roadrunners improved to 10-8 overall and 9-3 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Mavericks fell to 8-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
The Roadrunners had an explosive start to the game. The team headed into the first media timeout on top 13-4 after a 10-0 run. The momentum continued with sophomore

Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) both draining a pair from downtown to extend the early lead to 15.
The Roadrunners continued to remain hot on the offensive end shooting an impressive 66 percent from behind the arch and 55 percent from the field through the first 12 minutes of the first half, leading the Mavericks 27-12.
MSU Denver didn't let down, leading by as many as 19 and only allowing the Mavs to be within 14 through the remainder of the half.
The final play summed up the half for the Roadrunners with senior
Peter Møller (Værløse, Denmark/Falkonergårdens Gymnasium) hitting a buzzer beater three from way downtown to put the Roadrunners up 41-24 going into half.
The Roadrunners were led by senior
Cameron Williams (Omaha, Nebraska/Omaha South H.S.) with 11 points. Williams shot 4-9 from the field in the first half and 3-5 from behind the arch. MSU Denver shot 50 percent as a team in the first half and held the Mavs to 41 percent.
MSU Denver didn't let up to start the second half outscoring the Mavs 16-10 through the first media timeout. The Roadrunners then went on a 16-2 run lasting from 17:30-15:14 to take a 27-point lead over the Mavericks.
The Roadrunners never took their foot off the gas and earned the 80-60 win over the Mavericks.
Møller led the Roadrunners with 19 points, going 7-11 from the field and 5-8 from the three. Cam Williams had 18 for his team and senior
Bounama Keita (Saint-Louis, Senegal/Impact Basketball Academy (Fla.)) had a game high seven boards.
MSU Denver shot a season high 50 percent from the field and 57 percent from beyond the arch.
The Roadrunners will host Western State tomorrow at 7 p.m.
