DENVER – The Metropolitan State University of Denver volleyball team is holding its Dig Pink Cancer Awareness match Saturday against Colorado State University-Pueblo.
The 4 p.m. match at the Auraria Event Center precedes the 7 p.m. Roadrunners Athletics Hall of Fame banquet.
Fans wearing pink will be admitted free.
The MSU Denver volleyball team opens the weekend with a Friday night at match at 7 p.m. against New Mexico Highlands.
MSU Denver heads into Friday's match with a record of 12-6 overall and is 8-2 for fifth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
CSU-Pueblo enters the weekend at 4-16 overall and is 14
thin the RMAC at 2-9.
MSU Denver enters Friday with four straight victories, the third-longest streak in the league.
All six of the Roadrunners' losses this season have come to teams who are currently in the national top 25 or are receiving votes in the poll.
Seniors
Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View) and
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) have led the Roadrunners this season. Duryea averages 3.3 kills per set, while Sturges averages 3.2.
Avaline Lai (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) leads MSU Denver with a .323 hitting percentage, with
Alyssa Kelling (Merton, Wis./Arrowhead) close behind at .287. Defensively,
Stephanie Laraway (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood) averages 0.92 blocks per set (just head of Kelling's 0.89 and Lai's 0.86), while
Lyric Hebert (Arvada, Colo./Ralston Valley) averages 4.7 digs per set. The Roadrunners have used three setters:
Morgan Weatherwax (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) averages 6.1 assists per set,
Mikaela Kubiak (Kalamazoo, Mich./Portage Central) 5.9 and
Jessa Megenhardt (Berthoud, Colo./Berthoud) 5.1.
