@MSUDenverMSOC: Roadrunners Fly Past CCU, 7-0

Goal total is most since 2011 for MSU Denver

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Metropolitan State University of Denver scored six second-half goals to blow open a 1-0 game and cruised to a 7-0 victory Thursday over Colorado Christian in men's soccer.

Vinicius Krusser (Florianopolis, Brazil) scored the first and last goals of the second-half outburst. In between, Louie Sawaged (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista), Bryan Amouyal (Ashdod, Israel/Mekif Tet), Jaydon Moreschini (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo West) and Jaime Gutierrez (Aurora, Colo./Aurora West College Prep Academy) scored.

Rafael Munoz-Vega had scored with 25:59 left in the first half to give the Roadrunners the only goal they would need.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Alessandro Gentile (Milan, Italy/Scuola Europa) played for the first time this season and registered the shutout while making one save.

"We worked hard today, finished our opportunities, and kept a clean sheet -- seems like a good recipe for success," MSU Denver coach Jeremy Tittle said. "We continue to be at our best when we show togetherness, getting contributions from lots of people on both sides of the ball."

MSU Denver improved to 9-8 overall and 8-5 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners clinched a spot in the six-team RMAC tournament, and will look to improve their standing – and perhaps host a first-round game as a No. 3 or 4 seed – in Saturday's 11 a.m. home game against Westminster.

The Roadrunners recorded their highest goal total since opening the 2011 season with an 8-1 victory over Upper Iowa.

MSU Denver peppered Colorado Christian with 29 shots, 19 of which were on goal.

Gianni Steijlen (Eindhoven, The Netherlands/Summa College) had two assists for the Roadrunners, including one on the goal from Munoz-Vega, who scored for the third time this season.

Krusser's goals were his first of the season. His first came on a blast from the top of the box just 1:07 into the second half. His final score came in the 86th minute.

After Krusser's first goal, Sawaged scored his first goal of the season just 51 seconds later, curling a shot into the right corner from 18 yards out on the left side.

Amouyal made it three goals in 4:19 as he scored his fifth of the season, while Moreschini took a through ball from Julio Corona (Englewood, Colo./Strive Prep SMART), dribbled from the 18 to about 10 yards out and flicked in his second of the season in the 55th minute, capping a four-goals-in-10-minutes outburst.

Gutierrez scored his team-best eighth goal in the 81st minute after stealing the ball from a defender and dribbling within 8 yards.

Colorado Christian dropped to 1-14-1 overall and 1-10-1 in the RMAC.
