SALT LAKE CITY – Taylor Duryea (Logan, Utah/Sky View) had 13 kills and hit a career-high .545 Friday night as MSU Denver cruised to a 3-0 win over Westminster.
The Roadrunners (11-6 overall, 7-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) ran their winning streak to three heading into Saturday's showdown at Dixie State (14-3, 9-1).
"Tonight was a great team win," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "We were able to sustain long rallies against a feisty defensive team. We made good decisions as attackers and hit for a high percentage as a team."
The Roadrunners had a different leader in five of the six statistical categories – kills, hitting percentage, blocks, service aces, digs and assists in the 25-15, 25-18, 25-12 win.
None of those was
Avaline Lai (Boulder, Colo./Fairview), who had 10 kills while hitting .429, or
Stephanie Laraway (Lakewood, Colo./Lakewood), who hit .455 with seven kills.
Santaisha Sturges (Parker, Colo./Regis Jesuit) had nine kills and a team-high two service aces, while
Morgan Weatherwax (Fort Collins, Colo./Rocky Mountain) set 19 assists,
Alyssa Kelling (Merton, Wis./Arrowhead) had three blocks, and
Caiden Rexius (Eaton, Colo./Eaton) registered 14 digs.
MSU Denver hit .295 while limiting the Griffins to -.010 hitting, the second time this season a Roadrunners opponent hit less than .000.
Duryea had 13 kills on 22 attacks, with only one hitting error.
Katie Culver led Westminster (5-13, 3-7) with five kills.
