Lubbock, Texas- The Metropolitan State University of Denver women's basketball team fell to No. 2 seeded West Texas A&M 70-60 in round two of the NCAA tournament.

MSU Denver was led by senior J'Nae Squres-Horton who finished the game with 18 points. Senior
Georgia Ohrdorf (Wollongong, Australia/St. Mary Star of the Sea College) and junior
Jaelynn Smith (Denver, Colo./East H.S.) added 12 points for their team. West Texas A&M shot 50 percent from the field in the game and held MSU Denver to 38 percent. The Roadrunners were out rebounded 38-26.

The Lady Buffs started the game outscoring the Roadrunners 2-10 in the opening minutes. However, MSU Denver fought back, and following a three-pointer from Squires-Horton, the Roadrunners took a 12-11 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter.

The remainder of the first went back and forth between the two sides leaving the scored tied at 17 heading into the second.

The second quarter stayed within points until the Lady Buffs went on a 6-0 run in the final two minutes of the half to have the upper hand at half time 33-28. Squires-Horton led the Roadrunners at half with 12 points.

MSU Denver started off the third quarter scoring the first four points to cut the lead to one. The largest lead for the Lady Buffs in the third was 34-39 with just under six minutes to go in the quarter. Â However, the Roadrunners scored the next six points to take its first lead of the half at 40-39.

West Texas A&M went on to outscore MSU Denver 7-3 in the final minutes of the quarter, taking a 48-43 lead going into the fourth.

The Roadrunners kept the fight in the fourth. Tying the game up at 52 with 5:09 left on the clock.

The next several minutes the Lady Buffs were able to make a run for it outscoring the Roadrunners 18-8 in the final minutes of the game to take the 70-60 win.

MSU Denver finished the season 23-9 overall.Â
