@MSUDenverWBB: Galloway's Career Day Not Enough for Roadrunners

MSU Denver falls to yet another undefeated team

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Despite a career-high 14 points from Jaiden Galloway, MSU Denver suffered another setback Saturday night, falling 67-44 to St. Cloud State (Minn.).

Galloway scored five straight points – on a 3-pointer and a layup – to give the Roadrunners an 11-8 lead, but St. Cloud State recovered to take an 18-13 lead by the end of the first quarter.

After a basket by Leya Harvey got MSU Denver within 20-15 with 9:09 left in the first half, the Roadrunners went 4:36 without scoring.

Still, a basket by Bree Wellington got the Roadrunners back within 24-19 with 3:03 left in the half, but St. Cloud State scored the next six points and settled for a 30-21 halftime lead.

Then the Huskies scored the first eight points of the second half and led by at least 12 the rest of the way. MSU Denver scored five points in the first 6 ½ minutes of the second half.

"We've had some points where we just can't score, and then that affects us on the other end," said Metropolitan State coach Tanya Haave, whose team is 0-4 against high-quality competition. "We've got so many different players in different roles, and we're all getting on the same page. We're just not sure of one another yet."

Morgan Lewis chipped in seven points and five rebounds for MSU Denver.

St. Cloud State improved to 3-0. The Roadrunners' four opponents thus far, two of them nationally-ranked, are a combined 14-0.

MSU Denver has an exhibition game against NAIA team Concordia (Neb.) at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Auraria Event Center, before playing host to Northern State (S.D.) and Central Washington on Nov. 29 and 30, respectively.
