Bahl's men's basketball team has continued to have tough luck this season, with 10 losses by six points or less, including eight in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play. Last weekend, the Roadrunners overcame a 19-point deficit with nine minutes to play to take the lead against the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, only to lose by one in the closing seconds. On Saturday, MSU Denver gave nationally-ranked Colorado School of Mines one of its toughest games during its 19-game winning streak, holding the Orediggers to their lowest point total in RMAC play in a 66-60 loss. The Roadrunners have lost their last four games by a total of 12 points.
Asah made nine 3-pointers in Friday night's game, the second time this season he has tied the school record that had been accomplished only twice previously. Asah made 9 for 14 from 3 against UCCS, then was 4 for 8 against Mines to finish the weekend 13 for 21 (59.1 percent) from long range. He scored 50 points in the two games. Asah leads the RMAC in 3s made per game (3.5) and has the RMAC's best 3-point percentage in league games (41.6).
Strain's baseball team, meanwhile, had the weekend off as its series at Emporia State (Kan.) was called off due to weather. The Roadrunners are gearing up for 11 straight home games, starting with a three-game series this weekend against Sioux Falls (S.D.) at 1 p.m. Fiday, noon Saturday and noon Sunday.
The Coaches' Corner, which is produced by
Eric Lansing, will continue weekly throughout the collegiate sports season. The show is set for 5:30 p.m. every Monday. The general public is welcome to attend while enjoying food and drinks at the Tivoli Tap House.
