DENVER – The Metropolitan State University of Denver athletics department is pleased to announce that it has recently entered into a partnership with Argonaut Wine & Liquor.
Argonaut Wine & Liquor is located at 760 E. Colfax Ave., less than two miles from the MSU Denver campus. It is proud to be Denver's largest and most successful liquor store.
"We are looking forward to our relationship with Argonaut Wine & Liquor, and we will continue to seek to build our connections with community business leaders," said
Dr. Anthony Grant, MSU Denver's director of athletics. "Establishing partnerships such as this one is consistent with the strategic direction of MSU Denver Athletics. We are committed to engaging with the Denver community and aligning with local businesses such as Argonaut Wine & Liquor."
Like MSU Denver, Argonaut Wine & Liquor traces its beginning to 1965.
Back then, Hank Robinson's passion for fine wine and spirits led him to open a little neighborhood liquor store that he named Argonaut. All that's left of the original building is a single brick that Hank used as a doorstop, but his love of wine and commitment to customer service are still the foundation of the family liquor store. Even at 95, Hank still came to work every day and enjoyed furthering his wine education. He was also committed to the responsible enjoyment of wines and spirits and was an emeritus board member of The Arapahoe House, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Denver. Hank passed away in 2018, at the age of 96.
"Argonaut Wine and Liquor has supported the Denver community for over 50 years, and when the opportunity came up to partner with MSU Denver, we couldn't think of a better place to be," said Ron Vaughn, co-owner and chief operating officer of Argonaut Wine & Liquor. "We look forward to the relationship with the athletic department, students and the college. Go Roadrunners!"
MSU Denver has a 16-sport athletic program that is a strong competitor in both NCAA Division II and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Roadrunners have won two national championships in both men's basketball and women's soccer, and the men's basketball team has the best all-time winning percentage in Division II history. Overall, the Roadrunners have won 40 conference titles and have produced more than 140 All-Americans.
MSU Denver athletics is committed to impacting the lives of student-athletes and developing future leaders by providing a championship caliber experience that emphasizes excellence in academics, in athletics, and in the community.
