MSU Denver Strength and Conditioning Program Seeking Upgrades

MSU Denver's third annual Day of Giving is Thursday

DENVER – The MSU Denver strength and conditioning program is pursuing a project to create a fully functional and fully equipped weight room within the confines of the current room.

The program's vision is to become a premier program nationwide, but first it must crawl before it can walk.

There is an opportunity to help, as Thursday is Metropolitan State University of Denver's third annual Day of Giving.

As part of the larger campaign, MSU Denver athletics encourages, welcomes and appreciates public participation in supporting its programs. Thursday is the day set aside for supporters of MSU Denver to make a difference and transform lives.

Last year's Day of Giving generated $82,311 for MSU Denver students campus-wide.

Any gift, any amount, directly impacts the lives of our students.

The MSU Denver strength & conditioning program and its coaches are tasked with the training and development of over 200 student-athletes, spread across 16 NCAA Division II varsity teams. On a daily basis, some 160 athletes utilize the training program, equipment and facilities, beginning at 5 a.m. The final team of the day leaves the weight room at 6:30 p.m.

The strength program has one full-time strength coach, one committed volunteer and one part-time assistant.

MSU Denver strength and conditioning is marketing its program to visionaries who might consider lending the support needed to obtain tangible resources.

MSU Denver strength and conditioning wasn't fully equipped at its inception. Basic everyday needs (i.e. lifting belts, medicine balls, bands, etc.) came from a random mix of previous supplies. Higher quality equipment was replaced with cheaper equipment, and that equipment is nearing the end of its usefulness.

Full funding of this project would provide MSU Denver strength and conditioning with the top quality infrastructure to assure the current weight room can optimally and safely handle its weekly workload.

Gifts made to the strength and conditioning crowdfunding page will count toward the Red and Blue Fund's cumulative giving level.

MSU Denver's 16-sport athletics program is seeking financial support for many of its planned events, including international trips that give teams life-changing experiences, the opportunity to bond with life-long friends and to contribute to the overall success of the teams in their fields of competition. While traveling and often participating in community-service opportunities, the teams often play against international competition.

The support of the public is greatly appreciated.
