@MSUDenverWBB: Balanced Attack Lifts MSU Denver to Easy Victory

Eleven players score as Roadrunners complete weekend sweep

LAS VEGAS, N.M. – MSU Denver took care of business Saturday night as 11 different players scored in a 77-43 victory over New Mexico Highlands.

"We did what we needed to do," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach Tanya Haave said. "I'm really pleased with the way we approached it. It would have been easy to take this game lightly, but our players didn't do that.

"I'm pleased with our execution. We have a couple of lulls, but really everyone played well."

MSU Denver improved to 7-10 overall and is now in sole possession of seventh place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at 6-5. MSU Denver won both road games this weekend and has won three straight road games overall.

New Mexico Highlands, playing without two of its top players, dropped to 1-15 and 0-11.

MSU Denver raced to a 43-17 halftime lead while shooting 64.3 percent from the field, a season best for one half.

Bree Wellington scored 14 points on 6 of 7 shooting, while Morgan Lewis had 11 points and seven rebounds and Leah Harvey scored 11.

The Roadrunners finished the game shooting 56.6 percent from the field.

"It was good to get everyone in and give everyone some confidence," Haave said.
