RAPID CITY, S.D. – South Dakota Mines opened the second half with an 11-2 run to break open a close game and went on to defeat MSU Denver 74-55 Saturday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference men's basketball.
Senior
Kendall McIntosh posted his second career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds (matching a career best in boards) to lead the Roadrunners.
"We played extremely hard and competed," Metropolitan State University of Denver coach
Michael Bahl said. "We got hit with the injury bug, and we had some different lineups out there. We had three 5-men on the floor at one time, but the guys battled and competed. We didn't make excuses and we fought, and that's all I can ask for as a coach."
Maris Colton added 11 points and also had three blocked shots and three steals, while
Elijah Straughter scored 10.
MSU Denver returns home next weekend for games with New Mexico Highlands on Friday night at 7:30 and against CSU-Pueblo on Senior Night on Saturday at 7.
The Roadrunners have a strong five-player senior class that will be playing its final two games at the Auraria Event Center.
"We're looking forward to senior weekend coming up," Bahl said. "We want to send those guys out on a good note."
South Dakota Mines improved to 15-10 overall and 12-7 in the RMAC, while MSU Denver dropped to 10-15 and 6-13.
