50/50 Rockies/Roadrunners Raffle Continues Online

MSU Denver Athletics and the Colorado Rockies continue to work together

DENVER – The bond between the MSU Denver Roadrunners and the Colorado Rockies is strong, as the 50/50 split-the-pot raffle at Rockies games continues to be the primary source of fundraising for MSU Denver athletics.

There is a drawing for Rockies every game, even though fans aren't allowed to attend. You can buy raffle tickets and check the winners here.

The program, set for its third year, has raised just under $800,00, with about $400,000 going to MSU Denver, including about $200,000 for Roadrunners Athletics.

Fans at Rockies games buy raffle tickets from the seller, with one fan winning half of the net proceeds from that game's raffle ticket sales each night. The other half of the sales benefit the MSU Denver Alumni Association as well as the Colorado Rockies Foundation and other designated charities dedicated to youth sports programs in Colorado.

This season's raffles will take place online, with sales opening two hours before the first pitch and closing with the start of the seventh inning. Drawings will be held for each home game, while away-series games are compounded into one larger drawing held at their conclusion.

Unusual circumstances lead to unusual solutions, and MSU Denver has been proud to be able to help out as the Colorado Rockies have used the Roadrunners' Regency Athletic Complex as a workout site in the days leading up to the delayed start of the 2020 baseball season.

"One of our biggest objectives as an athletic department is to be a resource and partner with Denver sports franchises, as well as with Denver's businesses, schools and community programs," said Todd Thurman, Metropolitan State University of Denver's director of athletics. "We're thrilled that we have been able to provide the Rockies with a facility to enhance their preparation as we all await the beginning of the season."

The Rockies have used the RAC to for Summer Camp workouts in addition to their own facility at Coors Field. Due to COVID-19, major league teams prepared for the delayed start of the season in their home cities rather than their typical multi-field setups at spring training sites in Florida or Arizona.

The RAC remains one of the top baseball facilities in NCAA Division II. The Rockies open their season today.

"I just want to thank them again for allowing us to use their facility," said Bud Black, the Rockies' manager, early in Summer Camp. "It's been advantageous for us to have another field to use."
