On This Date (Sept. 7, 2007): Roadrunners Take Down No. 1 in Men's Soccer

Cromie, Owen each get goal and assist in win over Fort Lewis

DENVER – It was 13 years ago today, Sept. 7, 2007, that the MSU Denver men's soccer team knocked off No. 1-ranked Fort Lewis 5-3, overcoming a 2-0 first-half deficit and a 3-2 deficit early in the second half to defeat the 2006 national runners-up.

Mark Cromie put the Roadrunners ahead 4-3 at 62:03 on a penalty kick and Cromie and Phillip Owen each had a goal and an assist.

It was the Roadrunners' second win over a top-three team in the first two weeks of the season, and it started a school-record 17-game unbeaten streak. It was also the first of a school-record 34 games in which the Roadrunners scored at least one goal.

Those performances highlight our latest installment of "On This Date in Roadrunners History," which looks back at the biggest accomplishments in MSU Denver athletics on that particular calendar day.
