DENVER – No. 12 Colorado Mesa got two goals and an assist from Fernando Morales and defeated MSU Denver 5-0 on Friday night.
The Mavericks improved to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
"We had some good moments and couldn't capitalize, and then were punished for our mistakes," MSU Denver coach
Nick Kirchhof said.
Alec Nguyen and
Aaron Biggerstaff each put shots on goal for the Roadrunners, while
Ross Miller made five saves in goal.
MSU Denver dropped to 4-8-1 overall and 1-4 in the RMAC. The Roadrunners have lost three straight heading into Sunday's 11 a.m. home game against Westminster.
"We have to give more as a team and program to change the pattern we've gotten ourselves into," Kirchhof said. "We need to work harder as a group to put together a complete performance. We are the only ones that can change the trend and need to look from within."
