SPEARFISH, S.D. – No. 2 MSU Denver completed its weekend business trip to South Dakota with a workmanlike sweep of Black Hills State on Saturday.
Combined with Friday's sweep of South Dakota Mines, Saturday's 3-0 sweep of 25-13, 25-22, 25-18 gave the Roadrunners (14-2 overall) 12 straight victories and put them 8-0 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
"It was a good weekend," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "To make a long road trip and not drop a set, that's good. We got it done in three."
Avaline Lai slammed 14 kills on .565 hitting, while
Rylee Hladky had nine kills and matched a career high with four aces, and
Alexis Benda had seven kills on .538 hitting.
"Our right sides (Lai and Benda) and middles played really well," Glenn said. "They did a nice job of changing their shots and scoring from their positions."
MSU Denver served 10 aces and had just two service errors.
"Serve and pass was the difference, as it always tends to be," Glenn said. "We put a lot of pressure on them in the lanes. They have a lot of fast arms, but we made it tough for them."
