GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – MSU Denver fell victim to a goal in the 75
th minute and dropped a 1-0 decision Thursday at Colorado Mesa.
The Roadrunners (2-4 overall, 1-2 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) had a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal in the evenly matched game. Colorado Mesa (4-3-1, 2-2) had 10 total shots to the Roadrunners' nine.
Lile Dere scored her sixth goal of the season at 74:10.
Midfielder
Luna Garcia, a key cog in the Roadrunners' attack, was limited to 18 minutes of play.
"That was a big loss to the group," MSU Denver interim coach
Bonnie Young said. "We reorganized and were able to get back to creating opportunities, but overall we didn't defend well in the midfield and we didn't finish the chances we did create."
Gabriella Gamboa and
Katy Coats each had three shots for the Roadrunners. Gamboa put two on goal, while Coats had one.
Kate Giordano had MSU Denver's other shot on goal.
Diyonus Walls made three first-half saves.
