DENVER – Sixteen men's teams and six women's teams will be competing for at Military Basketball Association Finals this weekend at the Auraria Event Center as well as the gym at CU Denver.
The championships will be Sunday at the Auraria Event Center. The tournament, which starts with pool play, begins Friday. The quarterfinal round starts Saturday night.
The MBA was founded in 2017 to support military athletes. Its mission is to educate communities on the challenges and stigmas regarding post-traumatic stress and to strongly advocate for intervention in the alarming rate of veteran suicides.
Teams come from all over the United States – from California to Texas, from Florida to Colorado. Colorado Military Basketball (men) and the Denver Dynasty (women) will be competing for the title.
Sunday's events also include a 3-point contest and a dunk contest.
The MBA was started by Mike Meyers, the commissioner of the league and the head coach for Colorado Military Basketball.
Friday's Hall of Fame banquet as well as games Saturday and Sunday will be streamed on
RoadrunnersTV. MSU Denver's
Eric Lansing will provide the play-by-play.
Saturday's games will be closed for all but families. On Sunday, tickets can be acquired from the ticketing site at
RoadrunnersAthletics.com. Tickets for Sunday are free, but capacity is limited to 500.
