MSU Denver Hosting Multiple Events During All-Star Week

Fun for all ages in multiple events

DENVER – MLB and MSU Denver are looking to kids who want to participate in Pitch, Hit & Run and Junior Home Run Derby competitions.
 
And that's not all!
 
Those contests, scheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. and for kids ages 7 through 14, kick off All-Star Game week festivities that will take place at the Assembly Athletic Complex. The programs are part of the run-up to Major League baseball's annual Midsummer Classic at Coors Field on July 13.
 
Details and registration are below. All events are free.
 
Also on the schedule is the Friday's 11:30 a.m. MLB Grit: Girls ID Tour, a one-day workout for girls ages 12 through 18 that will help USA Baseball staff identify talent to feed into elite girls baseball development events throughout the year.
 
On Saturday, from 10:15 a.m. through noon, kids ages 5 through 12 are invited to play ball with MLB and the United States Conference of Mayors.

THURSDAY, JULY 8, 2021
  • 4 p.m. - Pitch Hit & Run presented by MLB Network (Free event)
MLB Pitch Hit & Run presented by MLB Network is the Official Youth Skills Competition of Major League Baseball. This free program allows baseball and softball participants ages 7-14 the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition culminating at the MLB World Series!

  • 4 p.m. - Jr. Home Run Derby powered by @MLBdevelops (Free event)
MLB Jr. Home Run Derby allows boys and girls ages 14 and under to swing for the fences in a fun, free baseball home run hitting competition. Participants compete in one of two age groups (12U or 14U, as applicable) and have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition culminating at the MLB World Series!

FRIDAY, JULY 9, 2021
  • 11:30 a.m. - MLB Grit: Girls ID Tour (Free event)
MLB Grit is a free one-day workout for female baseball players ages 12-18. The event will serve as an opportunity for MLB and USA Baseball staff to identify talent to feed into elite girls baseball development events throughout the year. The workout will run for approximately two hours.

  •     3 p.m. - 10 pm (approximate end time) MLB RBI Games (baseball and softball)
Two high school baseball games and one softball game are scheduled to be played as part of Major League Baseball's Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities program.

SATURDAY, JULY 10, 2021
  • 10 a.m. - PLAY BALL Sandlot at Civic Center Park (Free event)
Come PLAY BALL with Major League Baseball and the United States Conference of Mayors on Saturday, July 10th between 10:15am-12:00pm! We look forward to seeing you at Civic Center Park on Saturday, July 10th! Again, no prior baseball/softball experience, and no special equipment is required. Just wear comfortable, athletic clothes, and come ready to learn how to PLAY BALL! For kids ages 5-12.

SUNDAY, JULY 11, 2021
 
  • 10 a.m. to noon – Chevy Whiffle Ball Tournament for Kids, Assembly Athletic Complex
 
  • 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  – The Athletic whiffle ball game at Tivoli Brewing Company
 
The Athletic will be hosting an event at Tivoli Brewing Company, featuring whiffle ball game, with attendees having a chance to chat it up with MLB writers and former players. MSU Denver is not officially hosting or sponsoring the event.
