@MSUDenverWSOC: Roadrunners Pick Up Six at Adams State

Zimmer, Teran each score twice, Roadrunners post eighth shutout of season

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The MSU Denver women's soccer team unleashed a scoring barrage while posting its third straight shutout Sunday in a 6-0 victory at Adams State.

Paloma Teran and Elli Zimmer each scored two goals, while Katy Harris and Isa Durkin also cashed in as the Roadrunners rang up their highest scoring outing in 20 games dating to … a 6-0 win over Adams State last season.

Six goals in a game are the program's most since an 8-0 win over New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 20, 2019.

"I'm really happy with our performance today," MSU Denver coach Kat Mertz said. "It was fantastic to see us close out the weekend on the road with six goals while keeping the shutout. Defensively we were sharp, and in the attacking third we were dangerous."

Teran has now scored all four of her goals this season in the past five games, including three in two games this weekend. She has 12 goals for her career.

She and Zimmer each produced their first career multi-goal games.

Zimmer, a key center back on the Roadrunners' back line that has helped produce eight shutouts this season, has four goals in 2022 and eight for her career. Harris, another back line regular, scored her first goal of the season and second of her career. And Durkin scored her first career goal.

Teran got things started at 12:36 and Harris followed at 19:50.

In the second half, Teran connected at 61:03, Zimmer at 80:11, Durkin at 82:00 and Zimmer again at 88:47.

Dani Nelson had assists on the final two goals, while Katy Coats, Jaimy Sawaged and Gabi Pulliam were also credited with assists.

Kayla Caballero (4-2-1) had two saves in her fourth shutout of the season.

MSU Denver, which improved to 8-2-4 overall and 4-1-3 for third place in the RMAC with 15 points, plays its final home game Sunday at noon against Colorado Mesa.

"We're looking forward to our last regularly-scheduled home game on Sunday as we celebrate our graduating seniors," Mertz said.
