LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Tyrei Randall scored 29 points Friday night to lead MSU Denver to a 101-59 victory over Barclay (Kan.) in men's college basketball.
Randall hit 9 of 10 free throws while coming withing two points of his career-high point total. He also grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds as MSU Denver improved to 2-1.
"It was a great team win," MSU Denver coach Dan Ficke said.
Jaden Kennis added a career highs of 17 points and nine rebounds in his third game as a Roadrunner, while Caleb McGill had 12 points and blocked four shots. Chandler Bevans scored 10 points and matched Randall with a team-high three steals.
"Tyrei was phenomenal, and Jaden rebounded really well and shot it really well," Ficke said. "Caleb was very good also, and Chandler gave us great minutes as a starter."
The Roadrunners topped 100 points for the first time since Feb. 15, 2021.
"Our bench gave us great effort," Ficke said. "Everyone who played scored. Everyone contributed to the win.
Luke Jones and Camden Smithburg each scored seven off the bench.
"We were very efficient on offense and we did a great job of executing. Defensively we had a solid effort, especially in the second half," Ficke said.
"We followed our gameplan. It was closer earlier than I would have liked to have seen. We called timeout with about eight minutes left in the half and the guys responded with a major run to go up (by 19) at the half."
MSU Denver plays again Sunday at 1 p.m. MST at Fort Hays State (Kan.).
"We got better at some things we've been working on all week to prepare for a big-time road game on Sunday."
