@MSUDenverMBB: Roadrunners Bounce Back with Important Road Win

Oke sets another school record with 17th double-double of the season

CHADRON, Neb. – MSU Denver bounced back from a three-game losing streak and earned a big road victory Friday night, holding off Chadron State for a 78-68 win.

Laolu Oke broke the program's single-season record with his 17th double-double of the season in a 20-point, 10-rebound performance that also included two assists, two blocked shots and two steals. The previous record holder had been Jonathan Morse, who had 16 double-doubles in 2011-12. Oke broke Morse's single-season rebound record (also from 2011-12) on Monday, and now has 315 rebounds for the season.

Keyshaad Dixon added 12 points while sinking 3 of 4 from 3-point range and added seven assists and three steals, while Ra'Shawn Langston had 10 points.

The Roadrunners shot 53.4 percent from the field (31 of 58).

"It was a great team win," MSU Denver coach Michael Bahl said. "I'm very proud of our guys, and their effort and commitment to each other. We are a good team, and I'm very proud of our players. Every team goes through ups and downs during the season, and it's all about how you handle adversity. I love my team!"

MSU Denver improved to 17-10 overall for its best win total since the 2016-17 season and is now 11-10 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

MSU Denver started slow, falling behind 17-9 before recovering and building a 41-32 lead by halftime. The Roadrunners led by as many as 13 points in the second half.

Chadron State crept within 70-65 with 2:56 left, but Tyrei Randall knocked down a 3-point to give MSU Denver some breathing room with a nine-point cushion with 2:34 to play.

The Roadrunners finish up the regular season Saturday with a 6 p.m. game at Black Hills State.

"At the end of the day, all we can do is control what we can control," Bahl said. "Everything else doesn't matter, and right now it's about our players and my staff."
