DENVER – Miles Gibson scored 21 points,
Laolu Oke had another double-double, and MSU Denver shot 57.4 percent from the field while holding off Colorado Christian 75-68 on Tuesday in men's college basketball.
The Roadrunners improved to 15-7 overall and 9-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Colorado Christian tied the game 62-62 with 4:30 left, but a hook shot by
Ra'Shawn Langston, a 3-pointer by
Maris Colton and a jumper by
Keyshaad Dixon put the Roadrunners up 69-62 with 2:58 left.
"I'm very proud of our effort the last 10 minutes of the game," Bahl said. "We have lost two or three games this season because we were unable to finish, and I thought tonight we finished."
Gibson made 9 of 12 from the field and also three of his free throws while grabbing nine rebounds. He also had two steals and blocked three shots.
"I think anybody on our team can go for theirs on any night," Gibson said. "I think tonight was just my tonight."
Said Bahl: "I have been very hard on
Miles Gibson, and he really showed his toughness and maturity tonight and played one of his best games defensively for us."
Oke had 13 points and 10 rebounds for his 24
th career double-double (and 14
th this season). Oke also had two steals.
Langston had 16 points and three assists.
"
Ra'Shawn Langston really committed himself, and it showed in his effort and in commitment to getting in a stance and guarding," Bahl said.
Dixon added 11 points and five assists.
"Nobody is jealous of anybody," Gibson said. "We've got a good connection. We move the ball and put each other in the right positions and make plays."
After tying the game 62-62, Colorado Christian missed eight of its next nine shots and MSU Denver sealed the victory.
"At the end of the day we are a defensive team first and foremost, and I couldn't be more proud of how we competed on the defensive side," Bahl said.
