@MSUDenverBSB: Roadrunners Drop to Eighth in Official Region Rankings

An RMAC Tournament Title, or high regional ranking, required for NCAA Tournament berth

INDIANAPOLIS – The MSU Denver baseball team slid two spots to eighth in the official NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings released Wednesday.

The final regional rankings, which won't be released to the public, will be determined after the Rocky Mountain Athletic and Lone Star Conference tournaments conclude this weekend. The tournament champions, as well as the top four non-champions in the rankings, will advance to the NCAA Tournament's South Central Regional.

MSU Denver won three of four games last week against Colorado Christian, which finished seventh in the RMAC. Meanwhile, Texas-Tyler and St. Edward's (Texas) earned upset series wins in the opening weekend of the Lone Star Tournament against Texas A&M-Kingsville and Lubbock Christian (Texas), respectively. Still, Texas A&M-Kingsville moved to third in the region, while Lubbock Christian dropped to seventh.

MSU Denver will try to claw its way back into at-large consideration this weekend at the RMAC Tournament, where it is the third seed. Texas-Tyler and St. Edward's are in the four-team, double-elimination portion of the Lone Star Tournament with regional No. 2 Angelo State (Texas) and regional No. 4 West Texas A&M.

Colorado Mesa, which is playing host to the RMAC Tournament, moved up to No. 1 in the regional rankings.
