DURANGO, Colo. – Maddie Lindsay and
Kelsey Gordon each had her MSU Denver best in kills with 13, and
Rylee Hladky joined them with 13 kills of her own, as the No. 4 Roadrunners overcame a slow start and a third-set lull to post a 3-1 win Saturday at Fort Lewis.
Lindsay had her 13 kills while hitting .500 and playing in only three sets. Gordon had 13 kills on .458 hitting and added three blocks, and Hladky had 13 kills, two service aces and four blocks (two solo).
Kaylee Corsentino had nine kills while hitting a career-best .533.
Lindsay and Gordon are transfers in their first year in the program, and have career highs of 23 and 19 kills, respectively.
Hladky, meanwhile, the returning All-American, now has 992 career kills for MSU Denver.
MSU Denver improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference while winning by set scores of 25-22, 25-11, 20-25, 25-13.
The Roadrunners hit a season-best .360 for the match, including .480 in the second set and .500 in the fourth.
"Fort Lewis played an aggressive match," MSU Denver coach
Jenny Glenn said. "We made some great adjustments as the match wore on. Our rightsides (Gordon and Corsentino) were a consistent threat offensively and put up big numbers. We continue to be put in situations that force us to learn and grow as a group and tonight was another opportunity to do that."
Delaney Eckhardt set a career high with 26 assists while adding two service aces and 11 digs,
Ashlyn Cianciulli had 21 digs, and
Mikayla McClinton had five blocks (one solo).
Fort Lewis dropped to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the RMAC.
MSU Denver returns home for matches Friday at 7 p.m. against UCCS and Saturday at 5 p.m. against CSU-Pueblo at the Auraria Event Center. Like MSU Denver, CSU-Pueblo is 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the RMAC.
