Title IX Series: Robinson Led Roadrunners to National Semifinals

The pitcher was one of MSU Denver's best in the circle

DENVER – MSU Denver has for decades been a leader in providing equal opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics.

Today is the 32nd installment of a 52-part tribute by Roadrunners Athletics to pioneers and leaders in intercollegiate athletics at MSU Denver.

Each Thursday, a key female figure in Roadrunners athletics history will be recognized.

Today, softball star Christie Robinson is featured.

Robinson was the Central Region and RMAC Pitcher of the Year in 2010, leading the Roadrunners to a 53-6 record (including 37-2 in the RMAC) and a trip to the semifinals of the NCAA Championships. She was 30-4 in a school-record 209 2/3 innings, with a 1.40 ERA that is by far the best for the program since it was revived in 2008.

In her two-year career, Robinson was 55-9 with a 2.08 ERA, 13 shutouts and 214 strikeouts in 393 innings.

Inducted into the MSU Denver Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021, she was third all-time at MSU Denver in victories and ERA, tied for third in complete games (54), fifth in strikeouts and tied for first in shutouts. Her single season win totals (30 in 2010 and 25 in 2009) were the best in program history – no other pitcher has won more than 20 in a season at the time of her induction. She also authored one of the program's 11 all-time no-hitters.

Title IX, the groundbreaking law prohibiting sex-based discrimination at schools that receive funding from the federal government, went into effect just over 50 years ago – on June 23, 1972.
