SPEARFISH, S.D. – Nos. 18 and 16 MSU Denver fell victim to a cold-shooting night and dropped a 75-56 decision at Black Hills State on Friday in men's college basketball.
The Roadrunners shot season lows of 33.3 percent from the field (21 of 63), 18.2 percent from 3-point range (4 of 22) and 52.6 percent from the free throw line (10 of 19) and dropped to 7-2 overall and 1-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Black Hills State improved to 4-5 and 2-1.
MSU Denver scored the first eight points of the game, but struggled the rest of the night.
Black Hills State played physical defense without fouling and rode the hot shooting of Matt Ragsdale, who scored 32 points while making 13 of 18 from the field.
Brayden Maldonado led the Roadrunners with 24 points while making 9 of 19 from the field. Maldonado also had five steals.
MSU Denver will try to salvage a road split in Saturday's 6 p.m. game at South Dakota Mines.
