On opening day, Arcilise pitched the fifth and sixth innings and earned the win, striking out five of six. On Sunday, with the bases loaded to bring the tying run to the plate in the eighth, Arcilise was summoned from the bullpen and carved up the hitter with a three-pitch strikeout to end the threat.
