Title IX Series: Lincks Was One of Roadrunners' Best

She earned All-America honors both indoors and outdoors

DENVER – MSU Denver has for decades been a leader in providing equal opportunities for women in intercollegiate athletics.
 
Today is the 39th installment of a 52-part tribute by Roadrunners Athletics to pioneers and leaders in intercollegiate athletics at MSU Denver. The series coincides with the passage of Title IX.

Each Thursday, a key female figure in Roadrunners athletics history will be recognized.
 
Today, track & field star Janelle Lincks is featured.
 
Lincks was an All-American as part of the fifth-place distance medley relay team at the 2014 Indoor National Championships, and that accomplishment came after she earned All-America recognition outdoors by finishing ninth in the 5,000 meters in 2013. She was an all-region performer in three events indoors and in one event outdoors.

She is the program record-holder outdoors in the 5,000 meters, ahd she held the program record in the indoor 3,000 meters from 2014 through 2021. She's is part of the program's fastest-ever indoor units in the 4x400 and distance medley relays as well as ranking as the the program's third-best 800 runner indoors.

In cross country, she earned All-America honors in 2013 (14th place) as well as all-region honors in both 2012 and 2013. She was All-RMAC first team in 2013 after earning All-RMAC second team in 2012. She placed 52nd at nationals in 2012, helping the Roadrunners finish 12th. She earned National and RMAC Runner of the Week honors in September, 2013, and through is credited with the program's fastest-ever 6,000-meter cross country time.

Title IX, the groundbreaking law prohibiting sex-based discrimination at schools that receive funding from the federal government, went into effect just over 50 years ago – on June 23, 1972.
