PUEBLO, Colo. – The MSU Denver tennis teams opened their dual seasons Saturday, with the men falling 5-2 to Lubbock Christian and the women dropping a pair of 4-0 decisions.
"It was a good learning experience," first-year MSU Denver coach
Bruno Campos said. "I would say we are still very young. We have a lot of new faces on the team, and I am sure we are on the right path. Unfortunately, many matches didn't come our way today, but I am proud of our student-athletes for giving their best. We will keep working hard, and I am sure the results will come soon."
The men showcased some of their high-end talent, as
Juho Kantola earned a 6-3, 6-4 win over Abamu Martins at No. 1, and
Alejandro Jimenez won 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) at No. 3.
The men's team's dual with Colorado Mesa was downgraded to a scrimmage.
The women were beating by both Dallas Baptist and Lubbock Christian.
