@MSUDenverVB: Anderson's Career Night Leads No. 5 Roadrunners to 3-1 Road Win

Senior outside hitter pounds out career-high 25 kills

Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS – Senior outside hitter Riley Anderson records a career-high 25 kills to help her No. 5-ranked volleyball team defeat UC-Colorado Springs on the road by a final of 25-22, 25-16, 24-26 and 25-22.

MSU Denver needed that big night from their two-time All-American, who hit .370 for the match, served three aces, recorded nine digs and added five blocks assists to overcome a gritty performance by the Mountain Lions.

The 3-1 victory improves MSU Denver's record to 21-2 overall and remains perfect in conference play at 11-0. UCCS falls to 10-13 overall and 4-7 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

The Roadrunners raced out to a two-set-to-none lead thanks to five total blocks in set one and six kills from Anderson in the second.

But the Mountain Lions used an array offensive weapons in the third set as four players recorded three or more kills, including four from Emily Pruitt and four from Payton Thompkins. UCCS outhit the top team in the RMAC .271-.240 in that third frame.

The fourth set saw 10 ties between the two squads, and it was knotted 19-19 on a Roadrunners service error late in the match. But MSU Denver got three straight kills in a row, two from Anderson to finally pull away and bring home the victory.

Freshman middle blocker Alyssa Boyte lit up the stat sheet to the tune of eight kills, a .353 hitting percentage, four digs and eight block assists. The dynamic duo of senior setters in Amela Qershia and Delaney Eckhardt combined for 49 assists, three kills and 18 digs.

The Roadrunners will continue their road trip to end the regular season with matches in Gunnison against Western Colorado and in Durango against Fort Lewis.
