LAKEWOOD, Colo. – MSU Denver played a solid first half but couldn't sustain it in the final 20 minutes and dropped a 66-52 decision Saturday at Colorado Christian in women's college basketball.
The Roadrunners led 22-16 midway through the second quarter after a 13-2 scoring run, but Colorado Christian recovered to lead 34-26 at halftime.
"They're long and their length bothered us all night," MSU Denver coach
Tanya Haave said. "Ultimately they were able to take advantage in rebounding and points in the paint and their size affected what we were able to to.
"We got frustrated, and like a lot of teams, when you get frustrated you stop playing together. It was almost the exact opposite of what happened last night (in a win at Chadron State)."
Tosjanae Bonds led MSU Denver with 15 points, matching her season high, while making 5 of 10 from the field, including 3 of 5 from 3-point range. Bonds also had a team-high three steals.
"Tosajane was really aggressive, went to the rim, and played like a senior plays," Haave said. "We just couldn't get much else going."
MSU Denver dropped to 8-17 overall and 7-13 in the RMAC, while Colorado Christian is 16-10 and 12-8.
