@MSUDenverBSB: Roadrunners Fall To Rangers

MSU Denver Defeated 11-8, 3-1 By Rangers

DENVER – After a change to the game schedule due to forecasted inclement weather on Sunday, the MSU Denver baseball team once again found themselves playing in another doubleheader at the Assembly Athletic Complex against their cross-town rivals, the Regis Rangers.

If you are a fan of offense, then game one was a game to witness. In a contest that was back-and-forth from the beginning, it was the Rangers that got the better of the Roadrunners in the nine-inning matchup. Game one consisted of nineteen combined runs - eight for the Roadrunners and eleven for the Rangers - and 28 combined hits - 12 from the Roadrunners and 16 from the Rangers. Seven of the nine MSU Denver starters recorded a hit and the offense received multi-hit games from Jesse Velders, Cam Yuran, and Andre Chacon.

The Roadrunners received yet another deep outing from starting pitcher Jack Slominski who went 6.0 innings allowing seven runs, six earned, on 13 hits while striking out three and walking just one. Slominski ended the day receiving a no-decision on his pitching performance. The bullpens were the deciding factor in game one. The Roadrunners bullpen allowed four runs across three innings, and the Rangers received four innings of stellar pitching from their relief unit who only gave up one run.

There was a night and day difference between the flow of the game one and game two, both resulting in losses to the Rangers.

The Roadrunners received a phenomenal outing from starting pitcher Dylan Webber who threw season-high 121 pitches during his complete game. Webber went 7.0 innings, allowed three runs, seven hits, two walks, and six strikeouts but still managed to take the loss on the day.

The Roadrunners offense was relatively quiet in game two as they were only able to score one run on five hits in seven innings of baseball. Cal Walsh was a bright spot in MSU Denver's lineup as he ended his game 2-for-3.

The Roadrunners have a record of 14-16 (4-6 RMAC) and the Rangers hold a record of 14- 9-1 (5-1 RMAC). The final two games of the series will take place tomorrow with a scheduled first pitch for 2 p.m. Following tomorrow's doubleheader, there will be a drone show as a part of the celebration for MSU Denver's military appreciation day.
