DENVER – MSU Denver took a 3-0 lead, but Hawaii-Hilo came from behind and won the final four singles matches for a 4-3 victory Friday over the 45
th-ranked Roadrunners in men's tennis.
The teams will play again Saturday at 4 p.m. at Meadow Creek.
MSU Denver (4-6) took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 by
Juho Kantola/
Marco Jalalian 7-5 and at No. 2 by
Alejandro Jimenez/
Jeanloup Auzias 6-1.
And the Roadrunners got quick singles victories at No. 3 by Jimenez (6-0, 6-4) and at No. 6 by
Maximo Lawlor (6-4, 6-4).
But Hawaii-Hilo, which was ranked No. 25 last week before dropping out of the top 50 this week, won the rest of the remaining matches, including three-setters at No. 1 and No. 5.
