@MSUDenverBSB: Schuler Named National Player of the Week by D2 Baseball Insider

He's Roadrunners' first national player of the week since 2021

DENVER – MSU Denver's Zach Schuler has been named the National Player of the Week by D2 Baseball Insider.

Schuler had an unbelievable weekend, with six homers and 17 RBIs in a four-game sweep of New Mexico Highlands. He hit at least on home run in each game, including back-to-back two-homer, seven-RBI efforts in games two and three.

For the series, the 2023 All-American batted .667 and he chipped in two doubles, too, for a sublime 2.000 slugging percentage on 30 total bases. He drew four walks that contributed to a .750 on-base percentage. For the season Schuler is batting .384 with 13 homers and 51 RBIs. He's now tied for second in program history with 42 career homers, ranks fourth with 367 total bases, and he's seventh with 166 RBIs, and ninth with 155 runs. It's the fourth time he's been named the RMAC's Player of the Week, including twice this season.

Schuler is the fifth MSU Denver player to have been named the National Player or Pitcher of the Week by and organization and the first since Cade Crader was the National Collegiate Baseball Writers' Association National Pitcher of the Week after pitching a perfect game on March 27, 2021.

MSU Denver's last National Player of the Week was Matt Malkin, who earned the award from the NCBWA on March 19, 2019.
