@RoadrunnerSB: MSU Denver Cruises to Victory in RMAC Tournament

Roadrunners eliminate Colorado School of Mines, 14-0

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Genevieve Bower launched a three-run, first-inning home run, touching off a five-run uprising, to help send the MSU Denver softball team to a 14-0 victory over Colorado School of Mines on Friday in an elimination game at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.

"We came out of the gates attacking and hitting the ball hard, and we never looked back," MSU Denver coach Annie Van Wetzinga said.

The third-seeded Roadrunners (42-17) advanced to another elimination game Friday at 5:30 p.m. against 24th-ranked and top-seeded host Colorado Mesa (44-8).

Jaiden Geist added two homers and Katie Maney chipped in with a three-run shot for MSU Denver, and Maddy Wilson pitched the first four innings, allowing just one hit while walking two.

"Maddy gave a us a great performance in the circle, and it gave us a lot of momentum going into game two," Van Wetzinga said.

In the five-run first, Aaliyah Arellano added an RBI double and Kami Grammerstorf contributed a run-scoring single.

Geist hit a two-run homer in the third to make it 6-0, and her three-run shot in an eight-run fourth made it 11-0. Maney's homer provided the game's final runs – the contest was stopped after 4 ½ innings due to the eight-run rule.

Geist had three of MSU Denver's four hits, and Bower matched Geist with four RBIs.

Mines' only hit came in the third inning.
